RIFF’s Saturday program unfolds across downtown Rome, GA, on November 7, 2026, starting with Saturday Morning Cartoons at 10 a.m. at Screen 417. A 10:30 a.m. conversation with Danny McBride at SPAM Studios has separate admission restrictions.

The rest of the day brings features, shorts and filmmaker sessions to Screen 417, SPAM Studios, the Historic DeSoto Theatre and Rome City Auditorium. Several programs overlap, making Saturday the day to choose your priorities before filling the gaps.

McBride’s evening screening and Q&A is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.; its venue and screening selections were still awaiting confirmation in the schedule used for this guide.

A general festival pass should not be assumed to admit you to the morning McBride conversation. Use the choices below to build your day, then check the official RIFF schedule for updated locations, reservations and admission terms.

Saturday Morning Cartoons begins at 10 a.m. at Screen 417, while In Conversation with Danny McBride starts at 10:30 a.m. at SPAM Studios.

The McBride conversation is limited to 120 guests, with admission for Film and Entertainment Society passholders and invited guests, plus a limited number of individual tickets.

A general festival pass should not be assumed to provide access, so confirm the specific admission terms before building your morning around it.

Late morning brings international shorts in The Church of the Flying Elbow at 11:30 a.m. at Screen 417.

At 11:50 a.m., Why Religion? screens at the Historic DeSoto Theatre, exploring scholar Elaine Pagels' work and personal journey.

Money By Sundown starts at noon at the Rome City Auditorium, offering a kidnapping story built around a desperate effort to assemble a ransom.

At 1:15 p.m., Making Room: Faith in Action screens at SPAM Studios.

For filmmakers and anyone curious about how independent projects reach audiences, Buffalo 8's Inside the Independent Film Ecosystem begins at 1:45 p.m. at Screen 417.

That workshop addresses financing, production and distribution rather than simply the finished movie.

The 2:15 p.m. DeSoto program, A Good Luchador Is Hard to Find, collects narrative shorts.

At 2:20 p.m., Nobody Wants to Be Here, Nobody Wants to Leave screens at the auditorium, with an Appalachian setting and a Southern Gothic story.

Narrative shorts return at 3:30 p.m. at SPAM Studios through Everything That Rises Must Wrestle.

The late-afternoon choices include Latin Clowns Evolution at 4:35 p.m. at Screen 417, plus Party USA at the DeSoto and The Enduring Youngbloods student shorts at the auditorium, both at 4:45 p.m.

Check scheduled end times before treating any of those as a bridge to the evening events.

Saturday's red carpet is listed for 6 p.m. outside the DeSoto.

At 7:15 p.m., Danny McBride's screening and Q&A is scheduled to include the presentation of his Flannery O'Connor Award for Storytelling.

The film selections and venue remain to be announced in the current listing.

Slay is scheduled for 7:35 p.m., with its venue also pending.

Leave those venue details open in your plan until the festival updates them.

Reserve each screening, arrive early enough to be seated 15 minutes before it begins, and choose a realistic dinner break.

Saturday rewards curiosity, but it also rewards accepting that one person cannot watch everything.
