Pig Out Brings BBQ and Beautiful Cars Back to Rolater Park

Come for the barbecue, stay for the cars, vendors and a Saturday exploring Cave Spring.

There are some events where eating is merely one of the attractions.

At the Cave Spring Pig Out, eating is pretty much right there in the job description.

The annual Pig Out and Car Show returns Saturday, September 26, to Rolater Park, bringing together two things Southerners have managed to develop pretty strong opinions about: barbecue and automobiles. The City of Cave Spring describes the day simply as “BBQ and beautiful cars,” while Georgia’s Rome lists a barbecue cook-off, classic car and bike show, arts and crafts vendors and family-friendly activities.

The centerpiece is the BBQ cook-off, where competing teams put their smokers—and their reputations—to work.

While the barbecue cooks, visitors can wander through the car and bike show, browse arts and crafts vendors and enjoy the atmosphere of one of Northwest Georgia’s prettiest small towns. This year’s event also includes a live DJ and 50/50 raffle. Admission is listed at $5 for ages 13 and older, covering both the cook-off and car show.

And Rolater Park is a pretty good place to spend a September Saturday even without several smokers full of pork nearby.

So come hungry, look at some cars, wander through the vendors and leave a little extra time to explore downtown Cave Spring.

This one is close enough that we really don’t even have to call it a road trip.

But it certainly qualifies as Worth the Drive.
