Rome’s brunch crowd got a new player today as First Watch opened its doors on Turner McCall.
I stopped in for the grand opening and ordered the Barbacoa Tacos, which is not your grandmama’s breakfast. Light and fluffy eggs with a hearty helping of beef, pico and warm flavorful corn tortillas served wtih a healthy portion of tasty black beans. Both the beans and tacos were sprinkled with fresh green onions. The plate was colorful, fresh, and a little more polished than your usual “eggs, bacon, and a biscuit” rush routine.
Don’t go here to max out your hashbrowns or to smother everything with ketchup or syrup… save that for Waffle House. This is the place you go to enjoy a leisure second breakfast with family and friends.
Rome already has plenty of places to eat, but there is always room for one more solid. option — especially one that knows folks sometimes want breakfast after they have already been awake long enough to deserve lunch.
First Watch is now open at 413 Turner McCall Boulevard NE at the site formerly know as La Parilla. |
